Magnum 500 wheels with whitewalls?

69 XR7 in maroon with black vinyl roof.
Anyone running ww tires with Magnum 500 wheels? I’ve found pics of Cougars with ww and wheel covers or styled steel wheels but not 500s. Can find plenty of Mopars with ww/500. I know RWL is the go-to with 500s but thought the ww might give a nice period correct look.

Also, for the black paint on the wheel should it be satin or gloss?

This is a 70 I use to own. It has Magnum 500s but had RWL. I think if you can find a thin White wall they would look good. I]m not sure if I have ever seen that done on a Cougar. If you do be sure to post pictues,

I’d say give it a shot… if you don’t like it remount them

Mine are flat black, but were probably more satin when new. I doubt gloss was original since the purpose is to absorb light and give a spoked appearance to the chrome.

Here are Magnums with narrow red stripe tires and I really like it!

Yeah, if not blackwalls, or raised letters, then redlines are the way to go.

I just had my 3rd set of Radial TAs with RWL installed on my Magnums. I also like the looks of the redlines, but I think I’d wear white socks with sandals before I did whitewalls. But that’s just me.

So…white socks with sandals isn’t a good look? Side note - my dad used to mow the lawn wearing shorts with black socks and black dress shoes. Kept his black shoes and his 67 Cougar black vinyl roof shined up with liquid shoe polish.

I hated the whitewalls on my Grandmas 1968 Caprice, her 1974 Maverick, and my parents 1976 Cordoba. Scrubbing them for chores just sucked. Never again on anything I own especially my cool car!

Well, I’m not doing blackwalls because the only people buying blackwalls back then we’re either cheap or broke, and as much as they look great on modern rides they just don’t look right on an old car. It will be RWL or WW, and I don’t think cleaning them once or twice a summer is going to be burdensome.

To each their own just like everything else in life.

I should have said modern wheels not modern rides, which is why yours work. On steelies with wheel covers, styled steel or Magnums I think the RWL or WW goes hand in glove.
