On July 5th we responded to a 911 call for a car fire. The car was being shipped to a local car club member. It was purchased in South Dakota and transportated to South Carolina in a enclosed hauler (canvas sides). When the car was being removed from the truck it caught fire and stopped running. The transport driver was stuck in the car because of one of the trailers metal supports blocked his exit while it had first caught fire. The new owner was able to push the car forward on the ramp so the door could open enough so the driver could get out. They used all the fire extinguishers that were on hand. We arrived within minutes and were able to extinguish the fire, but the car was a total loss. I feel bad for Dave because the insurance companies of the owner and the transport company are saying the other is responsible for payment. So the moral of the story… check and see what your insurance covers.

Ooch !
Getting insurance can be easy, they want your money. But, when it’s time to pay out, the will use any argument they can think of to keep that money
that case really is a heartbreaker.
