Hey all…does anyone out there use a Mallory 29219 coil? I recently picked up a new one to run with my Unilite distributor. My question is, do I still need to wire in the ballast resistor? Some say yes, some say no…Even Mallory seems to have conflicting opinions. Does anyone know for certain?
If the coil resitance is low, like less than 3 ohms, you need to use a relay to power it. Otherwise you will pull too much current through the ignition switch and it will get hot and then fail.
