Manual headlight operation on '67 Cougar

I believe this is the switch for manual operation of the headlight covers. Should it be up or down when opening or closing by hand?

I believe that the answer is @ 11:21 in this video ( the same information is conveyed in the Thunderbird section of the video ).
The video talks about pushing a button ( in ) located on the headlight control valve rather than an up or down position for the switch ?

Here is the control valve ( image courtesy of WCCC ):

and I believe the white plastic ‘plunger’ is the switch that has to be pushed down ( “in”) to manually override the system - if I recall the plunger has a tab on the side, that has to be pushed in to pull the plunger back up, and allow the system to return to it’s ‘default’ operation.
I have a 1969, so this valve doesn’t exist in the 69’s and 70’s. I’m recalling this from a 1967 that I used to have. If I’m in error in my memory / interpretation, I’m sure other members will correct
me !
Here is the link to the 1967 Cougar valve explanation from Don Rush ( @ WCCC ) where the ‘override’ button is explained starting at 2:42

Thank you. I’ll explore it this weekend…

This was a 1967 only thing. I believe that it was intended as an over ride to let you open the head light doors when the headlights were not turned on. '67 owners manual covered it but I don’t have that available right now.

The glove box book says the headlamp control should be down for manual operation of the headlamp doors.
