Map pocket restoration guide

does anyone have pictures of how they restored their map pockets with the proper folding and assembly?

I have looked everywhere and I can only find conversations on parts of it.

I have WCCC new vinyl and want to correctly restore these. I don’t got $$$ to burn for a screw up.

Appreciate any visual aids and assistance. My current ones are in BAD shape and I dont think they were affixed (they are barely screwed in) properly.

I did my map pockets using the wccc vinyl. A couple of observations that might help. First I used a thin piece of wood (e.g., 1/8” plywood) rather than trying to use the original. I figured that if I jacked it up, I still have my old original map pockets. With the wood, you’ll have to slot it for the new elastic. Next, to get the cuts and folds for the vinyl, I used large piece of paper(s) cut to the same size as the vinyl to practice. In my opinion, I don’t think the vinyl is exact. With all the trial runs, I could not get the accordion style fold between the pocket and door. Not to mention that the vinyl is a little thicker and if I got the accordion fold, it might be a little too thick. I settled on using the elastic to keep the map pocket snug to the door while leaving enough vinyl to fold under the door panel and stapled on the back side like the factory. Also, there is a thin padding under the walking cat emblem that I trimmed to the size of the wood. Otherwise it is too thick to wrap around the wood. I am happy with the results even though it is not 100% accurate, but it looks much better than before and is still functional.
