I’ve got red interior in my 1967. However, I ended up with a nice set of 1968 door panels and rear panels, which are more maroon. It seems that the arm rests, center console and new dash pad are all going to be more maroon as well.
I was hoping someone might have an actual photo of these maroon seats installed to show how similar the color is in real life.
My wife and I are in a fight over this. I’d like to go with the high back rally seats with shoulder belts for comfort and safety. She thinks if we do anything but re-cover the lowback seats it will ruin the look of the car. If we re-do the lowback seats I’m going to have to go with the 68 decor kit to make them match the new door panels, etc.
The difference in cost of refoaming and covering the orginal seats versus switching to the Rally seats is negligible. I also looked into buying used 99-04 Mustang seats and having them re-upholstered in the correct color, but that came out several hundred dollars higher.
I don’t own them but they are really hard to get out of… but them I am an old fart. As far as the future value, well worse case a buyer would deduct the cost of getting a set of original seats from your selling price.
I have them in my 67 XR7, I’m not a big fan of them. Although they are comfy once you get in them, they are kind of a pain to get in and out of in my opinion. I’ll be selling mine to put factory seats back in this car.
I don’t have any pictures currently with the door closed, the car is under the knife also so it could be a while before I can get a picture. I don’t think they look odd or out of place though just at first glance.
