I have a 1970 xr7. I am working on replacing or rebuilding the master cylinder and power brake booster. Does anyone know if you can rebuild a master cylinder and power brake booster? Does anyone know how to test or tell if the master cylinder and/or power brake booster needs to be replaced? Thanks for any help
Typically the brake booster is rebuilt when it exhibits signs of a vacuum leak. The master cylinder is rebuilt when it shows signs of leakage. Both types of rebuild are done by Booster Steve Power Brake Booster Exchange - 50 Reviews - Auto Repair in Lynnwood, WA - Birdeye

Thanks Royce. I appreciate the help.
To test a brake booster, pump the brake pedal when engine if off until pedal goes hard. Hold pedal down, then start engine. Pedal should go down farther when engine vacuum is applied.
Thanks for the information Yearby. I appreciate it. I will do that.
