So, I’m just trying to make my 68 movable and I swear this car just doesn’t want to be brought back. It’s been sitting since 1994 and pretty much everything needs replaced/rebuilt.
I’m moving cross country and need to make it steer, start and stop because shipping a non runner is literally twice the price. Anyway… brakes, I just wanted to make them work and now I’ve replaced everything but the hard lines well, most anyway lol. Anything I touch on this car breaks!
Ok, question. I bought a MC from rock auto and they sent me a Raybestos MC36248 and the front port setup is different from the factory piece. Assumed they sent me the wrong one I went to all part stores in town and got the same part. Anyone know if it’s actually correct for a pwr disc/drum setup?
How different are you talking? Just a fraction of an inch difference on the port location, or off by a mile and a half? When you say the brakes don’t work, what exactly ‘doesn’t work’? Pedal won’t pump up, pedal won’t return, bleeds down?
Ok, I have no idea my the pics are up side down. Just pretend I’m an Aussie.
Woodsnake, when I pulled it from its grave it had zero brakes. Pedal moved but no fluid so no pressure. I now have either rebuilt or replaced rotors, calipers, drums, wheel cylinders, all attaching hardware, all soft lines and 1 hard line. Breaks bleed great and I have fluid to all corners and a firm pedal. However, I’m not getting enough pressure to actually stop the car. So, I assumed I have an internal MC leak.
I’ve seen this issue before. Someone thinks there is a generic replacement for the cats. Take a look at
RAYBESTOS MC36251
I thinks this has the correct post sizes, but not 100% sure. I’ll have to look at my collection of box ends from past purchases. I don’t trust the data they have, and I always double check the pics.
Hope this works. Bill
