You may not know this, but Matt was a suspension engineer at Ford. Although best know for his work on the Boss 302 Mustang he was responable for the suspension on the Cougar. He also did work on the Cougar T/A cars and the Eliminator. I met he last year at Jack Roush place during the Boss reunion. I got to spend some extra time with him at the reunion as the line was backed up for Donald Farr Boss 302 book. We mainly talked about Cougars. He told stories of when Dan Gurney was in town developing suspenion setups for the Cougar. “We burnt a lot of tires up on the test track developing the Cougar suspension”. We also talked about the instrumentation they used then to collect data vs the high tech stuff we have available today. Super nice guy to talk with.

Glad you got to meet him and have that experience, if for no other reason that to be able to help us all collectively appreciate the guy more.
We forget these cars were made, from concept to design to assembly, by people. At least I do sometimes.
