Mercury Cougar 1987 Disposal/Salvage/Sale?

I have a 1987 Mercury Cougar 2D. My son got it about 6 years ago after it was in a True Detectives movie series. The car ran great for about two months and then either the water pump went out or it got a cracked engine block. My son and one of his friends got a replacement engine and put it in (albeit they did not finish) and now its in my driveway collecting dust. It is gray two tone, the interior is original even with tape deck. My question is what is the best way to go about selling it? I’d like to get $3000 or obo as I think the car still has value and can be road ready with some car. Are there places that are better to sell it like FB marketplace or ebay? I have never done that before so did not know what the best options are before I salvage or donate it. I am a disabled vet and while I would love to work on it, I cannot. Any advice on places to sell this or even if I am asking the right price to get rid of it are greatly appreciated.

Don’t believe you mentioned what part of the country you are from. Where I live a non running project car of that vintage would struggle to get $1500. You might want to check with some friends with knowledge of local market for their opinion. Not much of a collector market and good condition running ones can be bought for $5,000 to $8,000. Give serious consideration to any offer you might get. Hope you can get it out of your driveway.
