Modfying 69 Early To Late 69 Wiring Harness Success?

Greetings!

Have a customer working on an Eliminator and needs a new under dash harness (white instrument panel connector). I do not know how buggered up his original is…butt he seeks a new one. I lent him an early harness (black connector) to try and figure this out under the premise that he figure it out on paper before smoke…

I know that two connections changed when a side by side comparison is done. Early 69 harness has pin#3 (I believe) with a ground wire where a side by side of a 70 XR7 harness has a blank spot there…“wire reduction” by Ford simply move a ground…good!

But the second pin was a green/red wire I believe that changed to violet (maybe) in the 70 harness… I didn’t have or know of a late 69 harness drawing so we sorta guessed/hoped that the 70 XR7 may have borrowed some of the late 69 changes… although many other things changed… I believe that the rear circuit board probably took on a 1970 part number but there were physical shape changes that perhaps dictated this…not necessarily wiring changes…???

ANYONE have a GOOD experience with this sort of fix/repurposement???

Cheers!
Steve

The 69 change is all related to the ground leads. The underdash harness with the two ground pins will work with either circuit card, but not vice-versa.

What pin# is the second one you’re discussing? Don’t assume 69 and 70 wiring is identical…
