Motor mounts

1967 early cougar
289/C4

I have a broken motor mount and looking to buy new set. I read on WCCC that for ‘67 you either have to get new frame stands or modify aftermarket motor mounts.
Question is
How difficult it is modification?
Will mustang mounts work?
Any info appreciated.

Sure Mustang mounts are exactly the same for '67 small block. You can’t buy any and no one makes any.

Funny many venders say they do but they apparently don’t work from what I read.
Why knowing sell parts that won’t fit years specified.
Annoying

CJ Pony Parts is the worst of the worst. To use those isolators you will need a set of '68 frame stands.

It doesn’t mater where you get “New” isolators you will need the 68 and newer frame stands. If your lucky you may find the earlier isolators used or NOS.

Another option is to weld up and redrill the 1967 motor mount plates to match the 1968 motor mount plates.
Four holes, 1/2" down from the originals are required.

.

Thanks for all the info.
One last question.
I’ve been reading reviews on various brands of motor mounts it appears there are a lot of low quality brands out there. A few said they even broke just installing them in the car.
If you’ve had good luck with one particular brand please post that.
Thanks.

I’ve seen several different types.
One had the rubber as hard as a rock - seems like that would not absorb vibrations well and tend to crack.
The other was softer rubber - that would be my choice for a street car.
There is also a clam-shell style with polyurethane. It looks very tough but probably transmits all the engine vibrations - race car only.

After using (and breaking several sets) of the brand sold by AutoZone, (Anchor?) I replaced them with Ford parts.
Never had another problem because they fit correctly.
However, they are unobtanium these days.
