Hi everyone! Here is my Cougar story.
It started in the early '70s when I was very young. I remember when I was 4 or 5 years old, there were two cars I really loved. First, I wanted a Mustang; I was in love with the '67 Mustang fastback. The other car I loved was the '67 Mercury Cougar.
Fast forward 20 years later. I finally had some disposable money available, so I bought a '67 Mustang fastback. The car was originally from California and had very low mileage, but it hadn’t been driven for years. I purchased it from a guy in Windsor, Ontario, Canada. He had repainted the car and put in a new interior. The car still had all its original sheet metal and components, so it only needed an engine cleanup.
In 2020, when COVID-19 happened, I was close to retirement. My main hobby back then was traveling for scuba diving. I told myself I needed to find an alternative hobby because traveling was becoming much more difficult. That is when I decided to buy a '67 Cougar to restore. My goal was to get one that was complete, but needed a total overhaul. Around that time, I also bought a TIG welder, even though I had never welded before. I learned on the fly! The project officially started in 2023 when I retired from the aircraft industry.
