I want to share my photos and thank everyone for the information on how to tackle my 68 grill restoration. This is my first time tearing apart a Cougar grill and I have this community website to thank. I bought new vacuum pods, New chrome bars. used the heat gun to straighten out the pot metaland took my time. I’m really happy with the end result and just wanted to show off my work and thank you to everyone that has posted on the subject
Thanks DieselD, I think they might be better than brand new because of the updated material in the vacuum pods and the better material the springs are made of, I forgot to mention that I did install the “stops”.
Very nice!! Hoping to do that to mine soon. I have my grilles temporarily installed on a parts car with the straightening kit on. Has been there for a couple months, hopefully it’ll stay straight.
Cool Blitz, I wonder if I would need the straightening kit. I did put the travel stops on but don’t know if it will eventually get misaligned again. I guess it wouldn’t hurt to put the kit on during the winter
Thanks Huzer, good luck with yours, take your time and watch the videos and read up about it on this website. WCCC has a great video on how to get them all apart.
