That’s a clever fix, well done! That foam seems like handy stuff.
Looks good. I use JB Weld for the same job.
New seat covers finally arrived today. Took a little under four months for them to show up. I’ll be referencing a couple threads by Royce 1968 R Code GT-E - #66 by Royce - The Project Forum - Classic Cougar Community Forum
and Gaugster ‘68 New Saddle Seat Vinyl – Whew....... - Classic Cougar Maintenance Restoration and Repair - Classic Cougar Community Forum
as I tear down and rebuild the seats. Should be fun.
Will be tackling this myself at some point in the near future - will be following your experience closely!

I’ll also be interested to see how your seats turn out. The new covers look great! Been waiting 6 months for my 70 front seat covers, and might try hogging them on myself too.
How did the seat upholstery turn out?
They’re still in a box in my kitchen! Hopefully get to that soon now that the kids are back in school.
Are you replacing the foam as well? Curious how yours turns out.
Think I need to change mine as well…a lot of cheese dust under my seat.
A little tip, Do them in the summer and leave the covers in the sun for a bit to soften up. It will make stretching them to fit easier.
This is what I have heard before. September/October is usually the warmest part of the year here on the San Francisco peninsula. Hopefully I will have spare time that matches the weather.
Started in on the upholstery over the weekend. I got one seatback done. Very big job but I am enjoying learning how the seats are put together. Big thank you to everyone who has posted the how-to threads on this before.
I’m putting '68 XR7 upholstery on '69 seat frames so that I will have headrests.
Interesting auction of what purports to be a highly original, low mile 68 Mustang with what are claimed to be the original radial tires.

Very interested in this because of the radial tire option shown on my Marti. I know the original radials have been a topic of much discussion on various threads.
This should be a stand alone thread, not tacked onto a discussion about another car.
If you look at the tires the whitewall is too wide for the tires on the ground to be original. I can’t read the date code but it is likely early 1970’s. The spare in the trunk is an original 1968 BF Goodrich white wall radial FR70-14 tire as was used on most XR7-G’s and most GT-E’s in 1968.
I agree. I just posted the link in my thread so I can find it next time I’m tire shopping.
