My 69 XR-7 S-code

Hi all, new member here. I have a 69 XR-7 S-code that I bought 26 years ago as my first car. Lime metallic, dark green leather, black vinyl top. I have not been using it for a while and it just moves outside my shop in the morning, and back inside at night 6 days a week. Been kicking the idea around to sell it. Anyone sell an S-code recently? She is ready for a restore, but runs and drives great. Again, it is started 6 days a week and driven around the block. I have the original bill of lading, and Marti report. Thanks for any input.

If you could post some pictures and details, it would probably help someone better advise you on pricing.

Good luck with your sale. I have the same car only as a J-code.

Dale, the biggest factors in price are condition and rust. Pictures will answer a lot of questions. The 390 makes it desirable, but if it is rusty, that can cancel out a lot.

This thread may help you with posting pics.

A J-code '69?

Condition is probably the #1 factor, but options will play a big part as well. A 4-speed transmission will pull a decent premium over an automatic, as will disc brakes over drums. Limited slip differentials, styled-steel wheels and heavy-duty suspension packages are also sought-after options. A few years ago the color combination would have hurt, but lime green seems to be relatively popular at the moment.

1969 S code Cougars can be very expensive to restore if any of the following are missing:
Air cleaner, snorkel, heat shield, distributor, carburetor, or radiator.
The air cleaner base with vacuum valve on the side is the same as 1969 Q code, or Boss2. Snorkel is a 428Cj with an added reducer for a paper S tube. Radiator is also the same as 1969 Cobra Jet.

Your under water just talking about it.

By same I mean a '68.

OK, so another slight difference.
Seriously, sounds like a really nice cat. I have a J-code project car in storage, I hope to get to one day.

A J code 1971? LOL

Yeah, that would be nice, but this one is a '68 standard. Nicely optioned and nearly rust free. If only a tree hadn’t fallen on the roof…

Hit and run… Taunt us with the possibility of a cool car to buy, then disappear. :imp: I hate that.

I have all those parts, original. As well as original AM radio and an extra tailight.

Still here, lol. Very busy at work.
