What a day it was for a car show at McNair Park today! As usual theer was only one Cougar in the show, but this time it was MINE!

Late in the day another Cougar showed up and parked out on the street. I am not sure if it is a '67 or '68. I never found the guy, and I must have been away from my car when he came around.…
G68 representin’!
It’s a bummer that you never see many Cougars at shows. I was at one last night with or company’s 58 Wrecker and there was not a one Cat to be found.
Looking at the lines of all the other cars and I have to say, they just don’t compare with the cougar. Your cat looks great!
I like the front t end on the green car, particularly the center of the grill.
It looks like his is a 67 going on the lack of side markers on the front fenders.
Grant did you win a trophy? I like the front section of the bright colored green Cougar. I’m just not a fan of the color.

That was the first thing I thought but then I noticed a lot of other things were removed, like all the moulding and the cougar badges and whatnot, the rear quarters are empty too, so maybe the side markers were there but were removed during the build.
It’s clearly either a 67 or 68, we know that much. Beyond that there isn’t really any way to tell, with all the work that’s been done to it, is there?
Look for the VIN plate on the dash; if it’s there, it’s a '68. You can also look at the strut rods, IIRC. They were a 67-only design. The steering wheel would be another giveaway - 3-spoke for a '67, the center pad style for a '68 (assuming it doesn’t have an aftermarket wheel).
Oh, I meant from these two pictures!
If you can blow up the picture, you can try to see if the rear view mirror is attached to the header or to the window. It looks to me like it’s on the header making it a 67.
Ah, well then… it’s either a '67 or a '68!
I’ll settle this…it’s a FIRST GEN!
Hmmmm, I see that we have come to a logical decision then.
Ok guys seeing that there seems to be a sicentific conclusion to it being a 67 because of no side markers. Here is the fly in the ointment. Aren’t there documented 68’s from the factory without side markers? So how do we know for sure it’s a 67?
Steven
I suppose there could be a factory anomaly or an export car that wouldn’t have had side markers but they were a new federal requirement in 68 so all U.S. cars for retail sale should have had them. There was no “option” of side marker delete.
I guess I didn’t win anything. They took soooo long tallying up the scores and I had to leave before the awards. The judges did tell me they loved the Cougar and gave me all 8’s and 9’s but I was in a huge category. There were all kinds of different Mustang and Camaro categories, but the only one the Cougar fit was "Restored 1900-2000…how bad does THAT suck!?
I will add that the snot green car had an all race car interior so all the tell tale signs of what year it is such as the steering wheel were gone
Yeah I know there was not a side marker delete option but I have read somewhere that some 68’s left the factory with left over 67 fenders. I was joking about it possibly being a 68. My money would be on it being a 67 if bets were being placed. $$$$

LOL, you wanna make that same wager on Local Hero’s car??
