Nationals 2020 in PA---Canceled, and Carlisle info

Some you may have already heard from the various groups on FB and/or have received an e-mail through your regional club. The Cougar Club of NJ/PA, Delmarva Cougar Club, Mercury Cougar Club of New England and NY Classic Cougar Club have made the difficult decision, based on our concern for participant safety and feedback from the Cougar community, to cancel the 2020 Cougar Nationals. While the show is canceled for 2020, we are already in discussion of a new date for 2021.

The ongoing threat of COVID-19 made this decision necessary. Registered and prospective participants also expressed concerns about attending this show, reinforcing our belief that cancellation is the best course of action.

Registered participants and sponsors will have a choice of receiving a full refund or applying their payment toward a rescheduled show in 2021 (dates to be determined). We appreciate their support for the 2020 Cougar Nationals.

We look forward to hosting this show in 2021 and with the confidence we can provide attendees a complete and safe show experience.

In just over a month from now, Carlisle All-Ford is set to go as planned on the postponed dates of July 31st to August 2nd. Rooms are available at the Courtyard Marriott in Mechanicsburg, PA, which is the preferred hotel for the Cougar Clubs. The days we generally reserve are the evenings of Thursday to Saturday. This year will be will be arriving Thursday 7/31 to departing Sunday 8/2.

Many of the regular faces will be seen at Carlisle All Ford. We’d love to have you join us in what appears to be the only national level event available this season.

The after-show BBQ on Saturday at the hotel is still planned. --------All Cougar people are welcome and encouraged to join. ------------- You do not need to have reservations at the Courtyard Marriot to join the BBQ. Whether you are staying at a different hotel or just coming to Carlisle as a day-trip on Saturday, please join us for the BBQ at the Courtyard Marriot. BBQ gathering will be in the backyard of the hotel at approximately 6pm. Hotel address is: 4921 Gettysburg Rd, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055

Thanks for the update Mark. Although I was excited for the Nationals this is the best course of action. Thanks to all the club presidents and Dan Mohry for all the hard work putting the show together. I look forward to more information on a new date.

With the Nationals cancelled, it looks we are going to have a fair showing of Cougars at Carlisle. There are Cougars coming up from Florida, Georgia and the Carolinas. Many of the regulars from the northeast down to the Mid-Atlantic will also be there.
If you are on the fence of whether to attend and concerned about showing up to an empty showfield, it’s currently looking like we will have over 20 Cougars. Can we make 30 or even 40?

The after-show BBQ on Saturday night at the hotel is a great place to meet other Cougar guys in gals.
We have been doing now for a number of years and the parking lot is like a car show.
Seeing all the Cats in a row and having the time to talk is a great time.

Also the hotel is doing all they can to keep you safe.
All rooms are cleaned from top to bottom and are not rented out for 24 hours after someone checks out of the room.

There was talk about trying to make it happen for 2021. Also there were uncertainties that a permanent cancellation was a better decision than to postpone possibly multiple times. Currently there are no Nationals planned for the eastern side of the country.

Carlisle will be taking place Thursday June 3rd to Sunday June 6th. Hotel accomodations can be made at Courtyard Marriott in Mechanicsburg, PA. Be sure to mention Cougar Club to access our block of rooms at a discounted rate. Hint: makes reservations at the lobby desk, not at Marriott’s central booking hotline.
