Hello everyone. I just had a scary incident where this throttle linkage came apart and got stuck under the throttle lever causing the car to rev-up. I quickly found the issue, and I was able to snap the piece back into the linkage, but I need to know the exact name of this part and whether or not it should have some sort of retaining ring. Don’t want that to happen again.
Go to the local hardware store and get the right size “C” clip to retain the transmission linkage cable. While you are at it replace the return spring. It should have a dual spring in case one breaks then you don’t lose the throttle return to idle.
Where does the second spring attach?
Nevermind, I found the dual springs and now understand what you’re talking about.
Two different dia springs and one goes inside the other and attaches at the same location.
I got an E-clip on the transmission kickdown.
And I got the dual springs installed.
