Maybe I have a home for my 383? That should piss off the Mustang fans. :naughty:

Yeah I just saw that so did the wife, now she wants a fast back or a camero vert.

Dynacorn has been shipping the re-pop 67 Mustang FB bodies for a few years. A year or so after the 67, they started shipping the 68 FB (different cut-out for the quarter panel “fake vent”. Shortly after that came the 69-70 Mustang FB’s and the '67 Camaro 'vert.

Give the money (and time); I’d go that route. Imagine, pristine sheetmetal, in many areas it’s thicker/stronger than the originals.
NO RUST!

One could concentrate on his/her “flavor” of powertrain, steering and suspension; not making certain that the body is perfectly flat/straight while welding in new floorpans or piecing together a cowl. No, it wouldn’t be original, it would be stronger. The body comes with a legal MSO, so you can assemble it and get it registered as a “kit car”; like a Factory Five “$helby Cobra” clone.

Now if they’d just start cranking out 71-2-3 Cougar exterior sheetmetal :wall:

I like the idea of this kind of build. Start with a clean slate rust free, no cowl leaks. Wow!

nonono… 67 -68!

Definitely 67/68 for the Cougar. I think they messed up the lines (and grille) with the revisions. The best looking Cougar would be a 67/68 Eliminator, if there was one.

Personally I’m against owning a kit car unless it’s something that’s unobtainable or unaffordable. If unaffordable is even a word. It would be great to have repop sheet meal available for '67/'68’s, but an entire chassis, nah. I’d rather find an original and have to do a little body work.

your tellin me that you wouldnt buy a 68 body to turn into a GTE for 15k?
Id like to have a origional too but my wallet lets me know different.

Id even like to see the 69’s redone.

My dream would be a steel frame with an AWD big-wheels setup, with a fiberglass body exactly in the shape of a 67/68 Cougar. I’m not saying it would get into ridiculously large truck type territory, but, I might be thinking it. If I win the powerball, I promise to make this happen.

I’m curious though, why pay $15k for a brand new manufacture when you can buy a zero-rust west coast desert type original for less than that, and already have many if not most or all of the parts too?

YES We have a winner! Are all of you saying you can’t wait to spend $15K on a rustfree shell?

I didn’t think so.

I already have two that I could turn into GT-E’s if I so desired. I paid significantly less than 15K for both of them combined. I’m not saying I have anything against a kit car or a clone or tribute or whatever you choose to call them. I’m just saying I wouldn’t own one unless it was something really sexy like a 427 cobra.

I still see 67-68 Mustang fastbacks for close or more than $15k. I’m talking nice original rust free cars. Not the ones where much sheetmtal has been replaced or bondo’d up. Anything nicely done is still $20-25k++ for a SB car. I have some old keepsakes that would be a nice fit for one of those new bodys. To me it’s a 2 way street. I bought a new Genesis 427 block. While it is much improved over the original 427 block it’s just not a original Ford 427 block. It does not have the original Ford vintage charm of old performance parts. But it’s a nice clean slate to start with.

I saw that Mustang shell at SEMA, was located in the Ford display.

Hope no one expects to begin painting as soon as it is uncrated. Lots of fitment issues, they should have spent a considerable amount of time getting everything to line up.
