One more thing, the Cougar hanger had a W stamped on them, and Mustang had a Z stamping
Thanks Scott, I thought that was the case. So my (forward) hangers are for a Cougar (correct top pieces) but not completely correct (bottom pieces). Not sure about the rears I have, think they are correct, they all came as a set.
Do you have photos? How do you end up with correct top pieces but not correct bottom pieces?

Dunno, that is what MU was selling, a hanger kit for dual exhaust Cougar. Maybe the tops are not totally correct, not sure, but they fit (and are different than Mustang). So I may have mis-spoken about correctness of the top pieces.
The kit came with clamps and hangers (but I used SS clamps instead, like my exhaust). And, they have a kit for 2" and for 2 1/4", guess just the clamps are different.

Have you thought anymore about the issue of the left tail pipe hanger on the Boss and 428CJ Cougars being the same as the Mustang and the left tail pipe having the jog towards the tank? The right side is the same for all Cougars. The picture of the left one below was before I adjusted the tailpipe over a bit. The spacing from the tank should be the same on both sides.
I hate to bring up a year old thread but here goes. Where exactly do the upper part of the hangars bolt on the body? When I got under my car, nothing really jumped out at me. It is a 302 car but I feel like at least the passenger side bolt pattern would be there.

This is a Boss Mustang but it’s very similar. There should be bolt holes at the top of the slanted area which you can see in this pic.
