New Exhaust, Present to Myself

I am taking some time off for Christmas. My goal is to finish up my intake and carb install, plus sprucing up under the hood. A good cleaning and puff can paint job to hold over until my new shop is done. A while as not even started yet. My car has headers that are in good shape so they are staying. I am going new exhaust from the collectors back.
My question is this what mufflers? I like the X crossover unless I get talked out of that. It is a 68 428 CJ, not stock, but not radical either. It does have 3:91s.
Suggestions?

The X or the H pipe do pretty much the same thing, I like the sound of the Magnaflo on my 351 W. I would not go any larger than 2 1/2 pipes.

I have the “Pypes” x pipe kit and Dyna max mufflers on the Boss Mustang. Went with 2 1/2 and exit out the side vs the rear. I like the sound and it has no drone to it.

That looks really nice Brian. I did pretty much the same on my first 68 I built. Only differance back then it was Turbo mufflers. That is the car I wish I had pictures of and still hoping some will turn up from family. White, black vinyl top, and a 69 shaker on top of a built 302, 4sp. Saddle interior. Still trying to track that car down. Merry Christmas!
Thanks

Catlover, where are you? I am in SW Virginia. If you make a triangle out of Galax, Independance, and Wytheville, I am dead center. Elk Creek mailing, but really Fallville, population about 11 or so.

X pipe tends to be more raspy, but will flow better at high RPM’s, H pipe gives you that classic sound and moves the power band lower.

I am in Salem Va, Back in the 70’s I raced at Elk Creek Drag strip, in a 69 mach 1 with a 427 tunnel port. The car was called CRAZY HORSE. If ever in Salem, look me up
