New to the forums. I’ve got a 68 with a 302 and C4. I’ve been redoing the front seat upholstery myself and overall it’s gone decently well. Been trying to fit the back panel on though and I swear I’m going crazy. It seems like if the holes in the seat frame line up with the clips in the cardboard, the clips don’t actually snap into place. They just go in and out freely. But, if I turn the clips to where they would actually secure the card into place, they don’t line up with any of the holes in the seat frame. Anyone else ever have this issue? Am I just losing it?
Are you using the original seat back panels? Or are they reproduction ones? If you have both original and reproduction ones have you tried to compare the clip slots to see how they match up?

Im using repro’s but i have checked them against the original. Slots all seem to line up as well as direction of the slots.
I had a similar issue when I recovered my 70 seats. I ended up needing to use a rubber non marring mallet to hit directly on top of the clip. I marked the exact location on the outside cover using masking tape. Start lightly and work it through. I just hope I never have to remove them.
