New leaf springs?

I just went through this. I have a narrowed ford 8.8 rear and arning drop/front coilovers. I wanted a more of a competition ride vs original. Tried 3” lifted springs from rock auto. Dayco I believe. I stupidly was willing to use lowering blocks to achieve the right look. Scraped that look and ended up trying 1” drop springs from ST Suspension/Beltech. Was to low so ended up with standard height, higher spring rate springs from Detroit Eaton. Like the height and so far so good.

If you can afford it. I would go with a Ridetech 4 link setup so avoid the leaf spring madness.

Couldn’t agree more… That’s the direction I went (RideTech 4-link w/coilovers) after having my leafs re-curved so many times and they sag back again…

I still have my original springs - sorry can’t help the OP here. I am laughing in that every Cougar of this vintage has a rear rake (front higher than rear) yet the published ride height is to the contrary. For this reason I lowered my front via the Shelby mod. It has a very nice level look (nose ever so slightly down). The 16" wheels/tires fill the wheel wells. Mine is a base '67 Cougar. I have a rear sway bar (addco - I think 3/4") and the front 390 GT bar. Mine corners very flat. I would be wary about going very stiff.

wolfdog59 - is that color Ruby Red or a candy apple?

I read somewhere that Ford chose that low rear stance to make it look like the cars were taking off. Your stance looks a lot better, and I also like when the wheels/tires fill the wheel openings like yours and Wolfdog59’s. Gorgeous red on both cars too!

What size tires ???

Calvert Racing Split Mono-Leaf Spring

I bought these springs with new pads, shakles, hatdware. 2.5 hours later and now enjoying the ride.
I was surprised with some help that they were not so bad to install.
Since then , i installed sub frame connectors, and upgraded the sway bar. All frim CJ pony.
If it wasnt for the snow…i would be driving this so much more.
The springs did what it is factory ride height.
So, just looking at the stance the rear is lower, approximately 1 inch.
Im thinking what Don from WCC did . By the lowering front coils ,better shocks. Call it a day.
