I did an even trade yesterday, my wheels and tires I had (15x8.5, 15x10 torq thrusts bad tires) for a set of magnum 500s. 15x7 front and 15x8 rear. I really wanted 15x7’s on all 4s but the 8’s will do. I want the car to look more level and “stockish” and have been looking at 235/60/15 or 215/65/15 for the front and 245/60/15’s for the rear.
Im fairly confident that the 235’s up front will work/look fine. But Im also considering a narrower 215/65 tire for the front or even a 225. I want no rubbing issues and I would like to keep the 26" tall tire the same front and rear. Right now im leaning on the 215/65’s front and 245/60 rears.
Anyone esle running a 215/65 up front? Any rubbing issues?
Here is what I got for trade pretty good shape, almost perfect, will add a new coat of black to the windows and probably get the black cougar caps. These are steelies but have the aluminum american racing caps with it. The wheels are standard backspace, 4.25 up front 4.5 in the rear.
Need to get tires soon! not sure how much the neighbors will like this…The coog looks kinda sad, but anxious for new shoes. I dont know I kinda like the steelies!
Say “bye bye” to the 80’s rake stagger look it had, thank god.
Here is a list of what some are running.
Tried to attach a PDF, wouldn’t let me.

I have 215/65 on 7" front and 255/60 on 8" rear with no rubbing anywhere. I’m pretty happy with this setup. If I had to do it again, the only change I’d make would be to go with Firestone Firehawks instead of the BFG’s.
Perfect setup! I love the color matches steelies. Beautiful car. That confirms the tire size for me. The 215/65 look great on the front as well. Ive been looking at the Indys but they are discontinued. I found a guy that still has stock of them and he has the 215/65’s but not 235 or 245’s for the rear. I’m also contemplating using the Cooper cobras. Thanks snafu.
I like the 8’s on the rear, lookssweet. Hey snafu, I said it before and I’ll say it again, Love your combo…steelies and caps. Im collecting the pieces now to do a copy!!
I’ve got 235/60-14’s on all four and I really dig the size and how they fit the body.
I’ve toyed with the idea of replacing the tires with decent ones, to get rid of the PepBoys junk that came with the car. Please pretend along with me that they say BFG or something less lame than “PepBoys Junk”. But they’re like new and I can’t justify spending that much money on a non-essential upgrade when I have other stuff that is more critical.
