New member and project car.

Hello Everyone,

I am new to the forum and look forward to participating in the forum and asking questions of you folks.

Just recently picked up a 69 XR7 Convertible in Saskatchewan, Canada after a 36 year wait since I sold my very first car (totally regret selling to this day) which was a 69 Cougar base model.

This cars previous owner had it for 30 years pretty much sitting in the garage, not a terrible amount of use. Car needs some work but most things in decent shape. Got a 351C 4V with the 4V heads in it which the owner said she put in about 5 years ago and hasn’t really driven it a lot since. Floor pans need some repair, paint needs to be done as well as the top. Interior is clean with only a small rip on drivers seat near head rest.

Just found some magnum rims (5 of them) from a guy on Kijiji for $60, obviously in need of refinish but will be worth the effort. Will post some pics of the car with the unfinished rims in a bit.

Looks like a solid start! Welcome aboard!

Welcome to the Classic Cougar Community. What are some of the options that your Cougaf has?

Welcome to the site and a nice Cougar to start out with. Is your Cougar an original black paint car or is it a really dark green? Looks black to me.

Great color combo. Congrats & welcome

Welcome to the addiction.

Thanks everyone. The color is Dark Ivy Green, at some point in its life someone paint a matte black finish on the hood. I was told by the last owner that it was to reduce glare from the hood.

Car was originally 351W 4V, no A/C, no power windows, power disc brakes, AM radio, and green interior.
Mine has a couple toggle switches by the cig lighter in the console, does anyone know if they are stock or an add on? At this point haven’t traced them back yet. I do recall seeing a couple pics of other 69 convertibles with those toggle switches.

There were no factory switches of any kind attached to the console in 1969.
