new or rechrome

Taillight Grilles? WCCC has new ones i was just wondering if anyone has just had theres rechomed and did they come out nice? and who did them?

thanks Mike

Hi Mike! LTNS. I had mine rechromed and they did not take all the pits out of the tops (what you see when the trunk lid is open), said they would be too thin if they had. Otherwise, mine are nice. Price is similar to the price of the repros (which became available after I had mine done). I would say go with the new ones.

Regards,

Robert

The new ones are gorgeous, and I suspect that the metal is better quality than the “pot metal” that was originally used. (No actual evidence to back up that statement, but it’s a hunch)

I installed these new repro bezels on my 70 and they are very nice pieces. They are a bit pricey but no other complaints/regrets with going that route. I had no issues with the installation and fitment.

I also just installed a set of the reproduction bezels on Ginger. Installed nicely and look fantastic. I got mine when WCCC had there Black Friday sale and saved a few dollars. Pictures to come later.

We have a set of 69 bezels left over from the days when we rechromed them. Our cost in them was over $500 and we would practically give them away. Your biggest challenge is finding a nearly pit free set to send in for rechrome but the real disappointment is when you get them back and fin every edge has been muted (rounded) from the polishing process. NOS is always best andrepro is a close runner up followed by grade A used.

Ooh, ooh! “Practically give them away” to me!!!

Looks like i’ll go repop! Thanks everyone.
