New to Cougars - a couple questions

Hello - New to Cougars, but not to classic cars. I have owned a couple vintage Mopars for several years. I am working on a 73 XR7 Convertible that I purchased earlier this year. Appreciate any help with a couple questions.

#1 - The interior is supposed to be medium ginger. A previous owner covered the plastic interior pieces (kick panels, seat backs) with a lighter beige color paint. I found that with some lacquer thinner and elbow grease I could remove the paint and get the panels back to original color. Now I am just looking to freshen the plastic pieces with new paint. Can anybody suggest a plastic paint manufacturer and color that is close to the medium ginger in color?

#2 Attached is picture of the car. The wire wheel covers are Cougar but I don’t think correct for a 73? I am eventually going to replace these just curious as to what year there are from? Early 80’s possibly?

Thank you for any help!

I found that the SEM line of products worked out well for my 67. The only issue I had was I didn’t order enough the first time, and when I re-ordered it, it had a different mix lot number and was slightly different. I called and they actually searched all their shelf stock and found more with the same number. I got mine from National Parts Depot.
The wire wheel covers look like they could be late 70’s. I recall my stepmom owning a 79 that had similar to those on (if I recall right)
Nice looking car btw.

Welcome to the madness and congrats on your new phat cat. looks nice. The wire wheel covers are period correct (see link below), my 73 came with them when I bought it, and they were one of the first things to go  Don’t trash them (see the price in the link) and if you change out the wheels don’t trash them either especially if they are 14". :smoke:

CatsRock is right on the money. These are correct wire wheel hubcaps for a 1973. Mine are gone from my '73 but in storage along with the original 14" rims. I installed a set of 15 x 7 Magnum 500 style wheels by Wheel Vintique and are very happy with the look and ride.

Great color combination! I think the wire wheel covers are interesting. Not something you see very often today.
