I’m new to the community … Found myself a base coupe 67 cougar.
Console car, 289 2V, base coupe. Cinammon Frost color with vinyl roof. Again base coupe that is very very clean
and structurally solid and sound. It has 45,000 original miles on the odo. Question, how much would this typically be worth.
Nothing to do on the car at all. Guy is asking 17,900 canadian.
Anything you guys can help me in determining a fair price would be appreciated !
Welcome to the Forum. The challenge is “where are you going to find another one?” A '67 Cougar with only 45,000 miles is not something that you see very often. And one that needs nothing, even more so… That is about $13,500 USD which is maybe high for a standard but with no excuses and 45K original miles… maybe not bad. I’d say at $10K it would be a steal. Keep in mind that you have provided no pictures…
That is a great looking car! I think if you can get that up on a lift and confirm that it is rust free and structurally sound, 12-13K USD is acceptable.
Since the car appears to have had at least a partial restoration then IMHO the low mileage has less impact of today’s value. Many low mileage cars were stored improperly and need to be restored and may not be a better value than a southwest car with 150k miles.
Car appears to have been repainted (at least some of the exterior), engine compartment redone and someone threw a decal kit at the car. Not sure what is going on at the drivers side rocker to quarter panel seam
I guess by your comments " structurally solid and sound" you have seen the car in person. The meaning of those two terms can mean different things to different people. Given the location of the car I hope you take a real careful look before you consider.
Ps . I am the owner of a 68 mustang coupe so i know what to look for. The value is what I was looking for since cougars and mustangs are not usually in the same price range braket . Thx
Not picking, just observation, the car has a repaint which you can tell by the pinstripes on the side.
I would want doc for the mileage, otherwise nice car.
The stripes are not quite correct (but look fine). Thickness, spacing, where they begin, end, etc. This is why Carlton is able to pick them out as not OEM.
Bill Ray ameristar1@gmail.com has a very nice 67 std with comfort weave black interior for $8000 in FL. 76k original documented miles. Email him for pics. 100% original
Looks to be in good condition but as for being ‘no excuses’ I’m not so sure…
Some of the panel alignment is not great and the headlight doors (which the owner seems to be very proud of) are pretty well lined up but not perfect. And from some angles the car just doesn’t look quite right as if it’s not 100% straight, but that could just be a trick of the camera. From the pic of the engine bay it looks like no power steering or brakes but no doubt you knew that already.
Not trying to be overly picky, just giving some tools for negotiation as I think the asking price is a bit high.
