I am doing a resto-mod and have a question for everyone. I have a 67 Cougar body / chassis for my project car and a 68 Cougar I am using for parts. The 68 has a 302 V8 with an aftermarket 4 barrel carb and an automatic transmission. My 67 has a clutch in it, but I’m not sure if it was an aftermarket addition or not. My question is: Can I, without a lot of changes to the bell housing and drive shaft length, put a newer automatic transmission with the “clutch-less manual” option like the kind found in the modern Mustangs into my 67 mated to the 68 302?
The modern drivetrain uses a hydralic clutch, which means you will have to use the pedal and cluth master cylinder out of a donar car and the transmission will have to have a slave cylinder and the line to the clutch master cylinder. The driveshaft will at the very least have to have the correct yoke to fit the upgraded and have a new driveshaft made, unless there is a pick and pull in your area to go find something the correct lenth. Buddy of mine did this in a Mustang and had to alter the trans tunnel so it would clear to accept the new location of the shifter. Here is a thread on here where this is in progress.

Get ahold of the modern driveline guys - they have most of everything to do swaps and can set you up with a hydro clutch conversion if you go that route too…
I have a Modern Drivelines hydraulic clutch set up for sale. PM me if interested.
