Nice '68 on eBay

I saw this 1968 6.5 Litre Cougar on eBay. It looks pretty nice. Seller has a good amount of pictures but no under car shots.

That is a sharp survivor. Real nice details all the way around. And some nice patina too.

You know that most survivor cars belonged to women!!

I wasn’t very keen on the color but it is growing on me… and it’s a S code.

My 67 S code was purchased new and owned by a woman until she passed away in 1990. Then her daughter held the car for several years before selling it to end a family feud over it. She said the arguing was so bad she could never enjoy her mothers Cougar so she called a family meeting and told them she was selling the car. None of the family members were willing to buy it so she sold it. Lucky for me.

I like it a bunch. Great looking Cougar. Love the body lines that jump out in the sea foam green color.

How many base S Codes had a stick?

Some of the comments are hilarious. For example “It’s only original once”. The car appears to have had a complete and very well done cosmetic restoration outside and under the hood. The wheel lip chrome is missing, and the antenna is an incorrect replacement. Then they have a picture of the antenna “Note original antenna”. LOL .

In any case it is a good looking car that someone has spent a lot of money on. If you like Seafoam green / green big block standard Cougars with air this might be the only one.

591 were built, 84 with a 3sp(code 1), 418 with a wide ratio 4 sp (code 5) & 89 with a close ratio 4 sp(code 6). John

Spoke to the guy. Reserve is 28,500. I’ve been the high bidder the whole way, but I’ll be backing off at that price.

Wow, sharp, I’m kind of digging the color.

I too really like this car. However $28500.00 is too high IMO. I think it would be better with a black interior personally. That color interior was never my favorite.

Either way love it and hope it sells to a cougar enthusiast.

Chris

That is the exterior color of my G car. Love. I have the dark ivy interior tho which changes everything.

Ok Dave, now we need to see a pic of your G car!!

I agree we need pictures. Dave did you buy Joe Valenti’s Seafoam Green XR7G? He had it for sale after it appeared in Hemmings Muscle Machines.
Steven

Will send pics when I get back to NY. It was joes car.

Well Dave you have a beautiful G. I really like the Seafoam green color combonation on your XR7G because it reminds me of the color combonation of my Mothers 1968 Lincoln Contential. My father bought her car new from the Lincoln Mercury dealership he built in 1966. That car and color combonation will alway have a sepcial place in my memories and heart.
Steven

I love the color too. I’m sure it looked great on a Lincoln. My dad had a 66 Lincoln convertible in Aqua with a white top and gut. That car was beautiful too.
