If this 68 was optioned this way from the factory it’s pretty unique. I will guess and say it’s probably a 84 DSO car if the options are original and not added.
And it looks pretty sweet to !
Based on the way it’s described, I would say it was not built this way from the factory. It looks like the idea that I had to build a car with all the options. I should just buy his and forget about doing it myself. Especially since I don’t have a sunroof car to do mine.
It looks like a nice car. I like the options. I missed the luggage rack. It must be in one of the photos that won’t load. The steel styled wheels were over the counter dealer options in 1968 if I’m not mistaken. The center caps appear to be custom made. I wonder what it will sell for if it meets reserve.

I too think the seller added the options because of this statement in the listing “This Cougar is the result of many a week ends searching swap meets and ebay for these parts.”
Neat car
Say’s it sold for 21K, I wonder why there was a handle on the sunroof? I don’t ever recall a handle being on a 68 sunroof, that panel is attached to the outer panel.
There wasn’t originally a handle. My guess is that as the motor aged, it may have struggled with the extra drag on the system by pulling the upholstered panel through the lower track on the sunroof rails. Unscrewing it from the sunroof panel itself and allowing manual opening and closing of the upholstered panel like a modern sunroof may have been the solution.
I’m also thinking about doing this myself and replacing the flimsy metal frame with a thin, semi-rigid material and covering it in headliner material. I would then open and close it manually. The other benefit to this is it would allow access to the adjustment points on the sunroof by simply sliding the upholstered panel back.
Thanks JB. I learned something new today. I thought someone had mounted the steel styled 5 star center caps on these steel wheel hubcaps. Cool to know they are factory Mercury items.
