This is on 1969 XR7. I do not have power coming across from the driver side to my passenger side power windows. I believe the Red/Blue Stripe (170) carries power to the switches. The harness junction on the passenger side of the dash had a couple Bullet/Plug connections that I was uncertain about correct connections. Is this where my error is located? Windows on passenger side work fine if I bring in my own power. Looks like my dash is coming off. Again!
You didn’t mention if this is a new problem or if its existing. Before pulling the dash, check the harness connections at the master switches on the driver door and make sure the window lockout switch is connected and not open. Power to the other windows comes through the master switches. Do the windows work from the master switch?
Problem occurred after reassembly of dash during restoration. Driver door windows work at the switch and all circuits test correctly on master switch. I even jumped the bypass switch and still no power to passenger side circuits.
I am going to pull the glove compartment and check if I can access the connectors but likely I will have to remove the dash pad. getting pretty good at that procedure.
Does the driver side rear window operate correctly? If so, then the window lock switch is operating correctly. You mentioned some bullet/plug connections previously. Do the wire colors/stripe colors match on each side of those connectors? Do you have the schematic for the power window system? The wire harnesses themselves are relatively bulletproof but problems are usually in the switches’ internal contacts or the round wire terminations at the switch connectors. Hopefully the switches themselves didn’t get mixed as the switches in the master group are different from the individual switches. I always use some fine sandpaper and lightly clean those brass switch terminals whenever I remove the harness connectors. .
Yes, the rear window works on DS. I cleaned and tightened all the switch barrels and went through each location with the wiring schematic. If I bring power into the passenger side windows they work correctly.
There were I believe three bullet/plug combos that were hard to match due to faded wire color. I think only one applied to my car - I think the other two were for a convertible top and rear defroster. Just not sure if I made the right connection. And it may have nothing to do with PW. Could I have made an error on the (E) and (F) connector as you suggested? Cannot remember if it was possible and it seems other devices would not be working but everything else is. I will look to see if I can access the connectors with the glove box out.
