This thread is where you will put nominations for Ride of the Month for January 2012.
All you need to do is to identify the car and the owner. A picture of the car would be helpful if you can locate one.
As a reminder, here is how it works:
We will nominate cars until the 25th of the month,
then vote from the 25th to the 1st of the following month, and announce the winner.
The article will go up just as quickly afterwards as possible. Then we start all over again. I will create a new “RIDE OF THE MONTH” section of the website and each car will have it’s own thread.
The CCC.COM Ride of the Month is officially sponsored by: West Coast Classic Cougars!
ROM Winners get:
Free Shipping on any order in the 48 states or a huge shipping discount on shipping any where else in the world.
A genuine WCCC Tee Shirt
A genuine WCCC Hat
Anything else Don feels like tossing into the box for free. (like packing peanuts or air? LOL!)
1st, Let me stress, this is not a joke. 2nd, I actually gave this month’s nomination a lot of thought 4-5 days ago, and it made a lot of sense then. Don’t know if I can explain it adequately, but here goes:
Even though many of us in the cougar community act like a dysfunctional family, we all joined this family for one reason: the love of the car. The story behind this car, what it started as, the finished product it is today, it is a wonderful example of what many of us wish we had or could accomplish. With some of the animosity that seems to have developed between many members of the 2 forums, what better way to bring in the New Year than by showing everyone this site really is about the love of the classic cougar first and foremost. Everyone of us have our favorite year, but IMHO, none of us can not look at this car and see the beauty that is the car we all love…My favorite year is the '70, but I have drooled over this car since I first saw it.
Anyways, to shorten this, personality conflicts will come and go, but we don’t necessarily have to like each other or always agree with each other to have a common bond. MCN was and still is about the classic Mercury Cougar (at least to the members). There is no doubt that this site is completely about the classic Cougar.
So, with all of that, I nominate Isabel (hope I have spelled it correctly). Seriously.
Thanks for the speedy correction!! I have edited my original post to show the correct name. LOL!!! I had an aunt named Isabela. How could I possibly get Isabel mixed up with Ismerelda?
Thanks Again!!
Chuck
Wow, I was thinking this morning about nominating this car myself. It is no secret that Bob and I are friends, so I am very happy to third the nomination. It is a spectacular effort with more attention to detail than even Bob lets on. (Ask Bob how long the hoses from the control valve to the ram are supposed to be… yes Virginia, they are different!)
To give Bob a little competition, I nominate the cars that didn’t make it to December ROTM. as far as animosity, I have no beef with a man that pours THAT much time into a pile of rust to produce what he did!!!
I would like to nominate Joe Gallagher (AZCAT). His '67 Cougar is outstanding and has some fantastic modifications that make it both modern and classic. Joe represents the younger generation of Cougar fanatics and does so with great enthusiasm and ingenuity. He represents our community well and makes all of us proud to be a part of it.
well… the ones that didn’t win december really should be carried over, and now, we do have (at least ) 2 more to add.
All those fine candidates WILL get the honor, it’s just a matter of when. What with the rarity of our cars, the fellows on the list will get a 2nd turn soon anyway.
Oh and I would like to second Joe’s cat (if it has not been already).
So now am I supposed to tell the story of Isabel or something? It’s not like I haven’t blathered on about her enough already, right?
More than anything I want to thank Chuck for the sentiment of his message, it really is about the cars afterall, guess other stuff can get in the way and loom large when in reality the focus belongs elsewhere.
I was very impressed seeing Bob’s car in person. As nice as his pictures are, they don’t really do the car justice. I’ve always admired Joe’s car as well. Seeing a guy his age turn out such quality work helped restore some of my faith in the younger generation.
The ROTM is a great feature to have. It’s the polar opposite of a political election where all you have are choices that suck!
