was there a 429 Cobra Jet in a 70 4 door LTD?
I think the 429 was an available engine in that year, but it wasn’t a CJ. Seems an anologous claim to the old “yeah, it’s got a Boss 302 engine” when there is a plain old 6-bolt valve cover 302 sitting there.
It didn’t come from the factory with a CJ, but you never know. Back in the Eighties, a friend bought a ‘71 T-Bird. He was all excited telling me about the "429 Cobra Jet’ engine. “No way,” I said. “429, yes, but it isn’t a Cobra Jet.” “But it says 429 Cobra Jet on the air-cleaner,” he said. “Decals are cheap,” I replied.
Anyway, he brought it over later, and sure enough, it had a 429CJ, Rochester carb, aluminum valve covers and all. VIN showed regular 429, so who knows when and where the swap happened. It looked 100% factory though.
I’d pay that much just to pull the engine.

I’m thinking the same thing but my uncle Fundzalow is in town visiting right now and he always demands $$$$$.
Fundzalow…I hate that guy…
Now that there is funny…Fundzalow…wonder if he’s related to Nunzio…
Here’s another one, what a waste if a 71 429 CJ was destroyed to build this.

I dunno, it’s pretty cool.
It is cool but what would you look for to verify that it’s a real CJ motor? Sal
429CJ engine ID…
