Those of you who have come to know me during the Isabel odyssey will CERTAINLY understand why I find this fellow to be a kindred (albeit perhaps a little wackier) spirit.

He definitely used the TIME +TALENT portion of the car building formula to the extreme. Now lets see if he can get the MONEY aspect taken care of.
Consider me the guy in the Cleveland Bar who’s heard of the project. But I wanted to hear how he got it out of the basement. I couldn’t bring myself to sell it though. Maybe if he left it in the basement, it wouldn’t be corroding now.
Wow thats all i can say- I think if I did that I wouldnt be married - and she likes to help out and work on the car with me.
Interesting story.
I think the way he does: “If you can make it, don’t buy it.”
Must be the German heritage.
But I wouldn’t take it that far.
Gotta give the guy credit; he’s tenacious. After all that time putting his own blood sweat and tears in this build, he’s ready to give it up and start a new project; because, as one of the replies to that post noted, he’s ready to go on to something else. A pal of mine in Pennsylvania did that with a 69 Mustang 'vert; and gained semi-notoriety through the publication of several articals in Mustang Illustrated (or was it Mustang Manthly?). Ultimately, he sold the car made famous in each other of the rag, entitled “The Cheapskate Chronicals”. Why? Because he was ready to ‘move on’ to his next great adventure(s).
Closer to home, WHO now owns “CatVert”?
OBTW: I read through the myriad responses and was tempted to register, just so I could type a response; starting with, “That’s nothing! I know this guy named Bob - except we all call him the “East Coast Idiot” - who rebuilt almost literally from the ground up a '69 Mercury Cougar drop-top that had been submerged in the aftermath of Hurricane Isabel…”
Hey, I get it. It’s about the journey.
Frankly, I think the only other path he has is to do car shows and sit around talking about it to people who will never roll up their sleeves and work this hard, or who will only downplay his effort.
This guy is truly alive in the basement working on something weird. We could start a club if we were social people.
