I’m reassembling my engine getting ready for paint and installing into the car. When installing the oil pan to the long block, should I be using some kind of sealant along with the 4 piece gasket kit? If so, what is the best product?
I only use sealant in the four corners where the cork meet the rubber. any gasket sealer will do.
I always use a little bearing grease to hold the cork in place and just a little dab of whatever permatex I happen to have handy at the corners as mentioned above. That’s always worked for me.
I used rubber gasket such as this (for 351W) http://www2.cougarpartscatalog.com/2001740.html and that worked like a charm (for a driver): very easy to install & no leaks.
