My 68 was built and sold in San Jose and stayed in that area until I bought it in 1985. Can’t go wrong buying a black plate CA car from that area should have little to no rust. I bet mainly you will just have some roof rust from the vinyl top. Hopefully the crash damage was repair right and not to severe. Looks like all the important and expensive pieces are there. You got some real good documentation as well. Not to many original window sticks and build sheet comes with a sale. Well bought and should be a nice project.
My Cougar looked hideous when I bought it from that area, but not a spec of rust on it.
Absolutely a great buy! Congratulations! Be sure to replace the tank and fuel lines before starting the engine.
Thanks for all the well wishes. I’m from Michigan so rust doesn’t scare me too much. lol Before auction end I did get a couple pics of the floors and inside the quarters. Quarters look great but at least one floor is going to need to be replaced (likely due to the holes in the roof). The other side might be salvageable, hard to tell from the pics. Car runs with an external fuel source. I like it because it’s COMPLETE even though it needs some TLC. He also has the trim, smog pump, original wheels and covers plus the trim boxed up. Love all the documentation and the VIN plate and title are a match so everything is legit. I’ve worked on much rustier heaps. Hopefully can start a couple build threads for this one and my '68 GT.
