Hey all, just wanted to introduce myself and my cougar. She is a 67’ with a 5L 302 and a nightmare of a transmission. Originally started off as a 289 2v. Typical issues include: a malfunctioning headlight vacuum, malfunctioning cluster, and of course no heat. Oh and if you think it doesn’t take more than a couple door slams to get my driver door to shut you are wrong good sirs. Regardless I love my vodoo curse.
That black on black on black looks awesome! I can’t believe I am saying that, as I love me some chrome, but it looks way to cool not to!
The slamming of the door thing is way too easy to fix to have to keep dealing with it… http://www2.cougarpartscatalog.com/m3616d.html . The only time I ever had to slam the door on my '68 was way back in the day when the latch would freeze up in the cold Missouri winters. I carried a propane torch for such events. I would heat it till I heard the click of the mechanism thawing out and it would be back to a gentle push (or pull from the inside), two clicks later the door is latched. (Of course I would never do that to the old girl now!) I show off all the time with the doors, hood, and trunk how gently they will close. No reason your '67 can’t cooperate the same way ( but it does look like it could use a bit of adjustments…worn out hinge bushings?..all easy enough to do)!
I am off to find a bigger garage for a black on black on black Cougar!
Is it too early to nominate this car for February ROTM!?
