I have a full set of 4Q 69 Autolite Spark plug wires for a 428 CJ. They have steel cores and the black rubber sleeves, as well as angled boot heads. Number 8 boot is stamped “8”. Underside of the burnt orange Autolite stamped boots have a “KW” with a 2 or 3 digit number (not sure what this means). These look original, but I’m having a hard time finding info to confirm. Any help is appreciated.
The OEM set for a 428CJ would be resistance wire. Those are special high performance wires sold by the Mercury / Ford dealer back then. Steel core would make every radio within 100 yards go crazy!
Guess you assumed they were solid core because of the solid wire visible at the end of the cables. Markings on the wire confirm that they are not as they are marked Radio Resistance in your first and last posted picture. Performance solid core wires would have looked very different that what you have if made during the last of 11969 for 70 vehicles. Don’t have any repos around to compare the boot molding details
Performance wire sets would not have come equipped with Thermator/smog shields either. Molded dist boot is was on many reproduction sets as well as originals
Throwing this topic back out there for any more info.
