Original Exhaust systems wanted / Trade old for new!

Was a 1969 vert “S” code dual exhaust done? Those pics look great.

Will there be an option for the exhaust kits to order them without the mufflers for anyone that would like to use an aftermarket muffler such as a flowmaster, etc.?

Kit looks great btw. I notice it also includes the hanger tabs welded on the backside of the mufflers.

How about a picture of a 427 exhaust system?

I should let Don answer these q’s, but he’s gone today so I’ll do what I can.

  1. No, unfortunately they are just plain. Probably not easy / cheap to get the licensing and tooling to do the embossed logo and part #'s. Maybe in the future?
  2. Not sure about this, but I’d say probably. We do have this clamp but for some reason it says it’s just for the XR7-G. If nothing else, we have used original ones.

Not yet, but if someone has an original system to send in, it’ll get done!

Good question! I’m sure that could be arranged. So far, 2 of the 3 kits we’ve gotten had the tail pipes welded to the mufflers. But I see no reason why you couldn’t just get the pipes. And yes, the hanger tabs are indeed welded on the mufflers.

Hasn’t been made yet, as far as I know. Again, no sample has been found to work from. Do you happen to have an all original 427 Cougar exhaust sitting around? :gaptooth:

Unfortunately the system I have is long tube headers and 4 glass packs. Even if it wasn’t rusting to pieces it wouldn’t be much use.

Why would you want to change that? :bandit:

I dunno, I have this idea in my head about returning the GT-E to original. The X code will get a more creative type treatment. :buck:

Nerd. :grin34:  :gaptooth: :beerchug:

In case you were wondering how we get the fancy top-down pictures of the whole exhaust system…

Yep, pretty high tech around here :gaptooth:

Honey, there’s some creepy Man in our Bedroom with a camera!

Probably wouldn’t be the first time.

Just to update, the kits & components are on our website and order-able! http://www2.cougarpartscatalog.com/store/c/5950-Concours-Reproduction-Exhaust-Components.html

I just checked out the exhausts on WCCC’s website. I see there is a listing for one system that covers the '68, '69 & early '70 428 cars. Are the '68 1/2 R-code and '69 systems truly identical? I thought the wheelbase was increased for 1969.

Thanks!
