PCV Hose Question

Morning folks!
I noticed that the previous owner of my ’69 has used a piece of 5/8in heater hose to connect the PCV to the carb base. I’ve also noticed that while the car is running the hose collapses. Needless to say I plan on fixing this issue but it got me wondering what, if any issues could this cause? I’ll also note that factory air cleaner has been replaced with a standard aftermarket unit and the oil fill cap with the breather tube has been replaced with a generic breather cap w/o the breather tube provision.

Could it be that the PCV valve is stuck ? causing it to collapse when running.

I’m running a Walking Cat oval open air cleaner, but i modified the base to still run a hose to the cap, so the PCV system is closed like it was from factory.
I did run vented valvecover caps for some years, but did not like that system, as it would leave a slight residue of oilfim in the enginebay due to the open venting

The PCV valve is free and clear, my thought was its the vacuum collapsing the hose. The hose itself is very flimsy so it seems like it doesn’t take much for it to collapse…
