PCV

I have a Scott Drake C8AZ6766B. What PCV will fit this? Or, do I need to change the grommet? I can’t seem to find a PCV to fit this as it is from the manufacturer.

That number indicates a Scott Drake chromed oil cap. It comes with a plastic elbow which is correct for 1969 - 70. In 1968 it used a metal elbow which is being reproduced and is available anywhere. In no case would there ever be a PCV valve in the oil cap.

I have the after market Cobra Jet valve covers which takes the twist on cap, where the PCV would have been. What could I use in it’s place? The grommet style? Or is there a twist cap that can accept the PCV? Thanks

All of the parts necessary to hook up the PCV to the RH valve cover with cast aluminum valve covers are available from any of the aftermarket part sellers. I like Mansfield Mustang best because they manufacture most of the parts.

The twist on cap has a hose that connects to the air cleaner. It goes in the LH valve cover. It allows filtered air into the driver side bank of the engine.

The PCV valve goes on the RH valve cover at the rear. It is connected to a vacuum port below the carburetor. The system operates by drawing oil and moisture laden fumes from the engine and it burns them.

n no case is there an oil cap below a PCV valve so stop thinking about that.

I’m guessing I need a notched grommet, to put in the valve cover to allow the PCV valve to rest in, along with the brass 90 degree elbow.

I think what you are looking for is this grommet https://secure.cougarpartscatalog.com/f15.html?sessionthemeid=26

That grommet twists into the opening on the passenger side valve cover and then the PCV is inserted into it.

The PCV is threaded into this brass elbow https://secure.cougarpartscatalog.com/pcvadapt.html?sessionthemeid=26

The elbow connects to this rubber hose https://secure.cougarpartscatalog.com/68bbpvchosewlogo.html?sessionthemeid=26

Which then connects to this steel tube https://secure.cougarpartscatalog.com/390pcvtube.html?sessionthemeid=26

Which then connects to the intake manifold.

The driver side valve cover has the screw-on oil cap with an elbow and hose which connects to the air cleaner housing.
