hey all,
Photo of the '68 from the “new guy”
That’s a good looking car. I love the stance. Where are you located?
I agree! No saggy rear end there! Great stance and appears to have potential to be a future ROTM!
Thanks guys. Had an extra leaf installed. Would squat too much under power and made me nervous about possible wheel scrub though it didn’t happen. Did get the instrument lights working last night. Actually took it out a romped it last night and was pleasantly surprised at how well that little 289 runs. It won’t set the world on fire but still, nice peppy little small block.
I’m digging both of your rides. Oh yeah, I’m in Atlanta.
The extra leaf trick is old school. I did that back on the first incarnation of my car. Load leveler shocks in the front. It sits about a foot lower now.
What I like is that it plants the rear end better. Thankfully it didn’t set it any higher as I like the stance, just a tad more wheelwell than in the front. That’s a beautiful ride, local hero.
Did adding the extra leaf require modification to the rubber isolator bracket, etc.?
We did away with the rubber isolators at that same time. 1981 Haven’t had them since.
You’d have to ask the spring shop that did the work for me. I should have been more specific. I paid the spring shop to do it. I’ll have to take a look. I’m still digging the stance on local hero’s. You guys have some excellent rides.
That’s a pic from 1982. Here’s how it sit’s today: Rubber Rake plus a host of hidden mods.
Sweet! oh yeah, the rubber insulators are still there. Even though it is different now, your car still has a beautiful rake. Like, no love it, bro (I can’t quit saying bro, bro). So far, nothing real extensive suspension wise, just a heilwig sway bar up front. Will be doing a rear soon, as well as bushings, ends sleeves, up front when I do the Disc brake install. Thought about “boxing” the upper arms for a little less flex while I have them out.
