Pics of Dad's '65

He just sent some pics. The great thing about this car is that I’ve known the family that owned it from new my whole life, so I was able to help Dad verify the mileage, etc. The car spent it’s entire life in one town , owned by on e family, until my friend bought it. So here’s the pics. Two of the car, and the one he sent me of the title when he got home (a whopping 1/4 mile from his house). I get a text saying “guess what I just bought myself for a belated Fathers Day present”.

Nice car, I have wanted one of these cars since I was in High School.
Seeing this car brings to mind an expression my Dad had…(hopefully it doesn’t offend anybody).
“If I had that car and your Dad had a feather up his ass we would both be tickled”

Is that a factory 8 tack tape player? Cool Ford.

Not sure if the 8 track is factory. I saw this car from a distance quite a bit in highschool, but we weren’t allowed to touch it. I did get brave enough to open the hood once. I’ll have Dad send a shot of it straight on, and then make a claim as to whether it’s factory or not. He did say that it actually works.

Great score for your Dad! I had a friend back in the day who was willed his Grandmother’s 66 Fairlane. We had a great time cruising and trying to pick up chicks in that car! Those were the days~

There have only been a few cars that Dad got this excited about. The Cougar he gave me, the 68 Cougar he had when I was younger, the 71 Cyclone GT he had at the same time, and the '69 Superbee he replaced the Cougar with back in the day. He REALLY likes this car, and knowing the previous owners is just the icing on the cake. They took excellent care of it, and my friend that bought it just detailed a few things and sold it to Dad-CHEAP. It still has the original decals under the hood and trunk. All of the original paperwork, sales slips, window sticker, just an insane amount of things that were held onto and preserved. Like I said, it has been repainted, but the other stuff is original to the car.

Very nice. Congratulations to your father. I’m sure he will enjoy it as much as you say…probably more knowing that he can share his story and enjoyment with you.

Lovely car. Congrats to your dad. It even has the rare recliner passenger front seat option. That’s cool. On the other side, the 8 track had its first year on the option list in 1966, so that one is for sure an after market unit. The original one for 66 with console was mounted on the console by the way.

Now Dad and I both know. I think he should keep it anyhow. He said they did a clean install whoever put it in. That’s what I like about this forum: If you’re not sure about something, there is always someone in the know. I know Dad sure appreciates the distance “thumbs up”, from everyone.

Just curious…what is in the picture that indicates a reclining passenger seat?

It’s the two piece back rest. Look at the difference between the passenger and driver’s seats.

Keep in mind Dad has a pretty twisted sense of humor. That being said, his response:Promises, promises.
