Power Windows Not Working

I found this video on regluing the window,

WCCC has a rather extensive how to video library, but I did not find one aligning the windows.

I am sure somebody here has some advice.

Sounds like a new relay should fix your electrical problem. I’ve got bolt in glass, but went through the door glass alignment on my 70 last fall. Lots of adjustments and most of them affect each other so you’ll be repeating all of them 2 or 3 times. Just be careful not to strip threads in the aluminum stops. Shop manual has the detailed info. First thing I did was adjust adjust quarter windows to best fit weatherstrips. Then adjusted door window tumblehome to match quarter window and weatherstrip. Then fore/aft to fix interference with quarter window. Then front and rear stops to determine closed height front and back. Finally adjusted fore/aft tilt so that window stays at about same tilt all the way from open to closed. Turned out great, but it’s real frustrating. I just about gave up several times and tossed a few tools across the garage.

I had the same problem with my 69 in August. Front bracket glue had let loose,

Follow Don’s instructions exactly. If you can’t take the bracket off easily due to residual glue, I found I could cut the window out from the bracket by using a backsaw between the glass and bracket. I put some electrical tape over the spine on the backsaw so I wouldn’t scratch the glass.

Get the 3M adhesive. I tried clear JB weld initially and for some unknown reason it would not cure.

I thought I could clear the debris out of the front bracket with everything still in the door. Not enough clearance to work in there.

Unfortunately there is no shortcut.

Since the window stop is the glass hitting a bumper at the bottom of the door, that pushes up on the glass at the bottom of travel, which stresses the glue. I"m going to put clamps on the tubular guides so the guides and brackets will take that force rather than transferring the force through the glass and the glue. I’m thinking of using a clamp like this: https://www.ebay.com/itm/2-Pack-15-32-Inch-Heavy-Duty-Rigid-Handleless-Flat-Pipe-Bracket-Clamp-Stainless/383927312290

What is the 3M product I need?

Below the glue will be a link to Don’s video on glue in glass. Don’t just watch it, study it.

Replaced the relay but no difference. Any ideas or work arounds? Getting power to the relay and if I jumper the posts it will work. Assuming not getting signal from ignition??

Sounds likely that’s the problem, and knowing what is going on with your tach and engine wiring, probably not surprising. I agree with the others on the “tach not working” thread - at this point I would pull the dash and wire harnesses and get them restored.

Also, it is very critical to re-glue the window channels back in their “right” position, as there is as NOT much front to back adjustment as you would think. I have worked on several Cougars where the previous owners have re-glued the glass, only to have it in the wrong spot, and therefore the window could not be adjusted properly. Anything more than 1/4 inch off and you can have problems.

Had these at least working now they won’t work at all even if I wire the left post on the relay directly to the battery. What now? I haven’t messed with anything else that should affect it.
