Pre buy gas at the cheap prices

I remember looking into this a few years ago when gas was around $4 a gallon. Now that gas is cheap I’ve been looking to buy at the cheap prices to use at a later date. Looks like a website called “my gallons” did this for about 10 years and went under last year. Is their a program less risky to pre buy gas? Do you know of similar programs to do this? Does one of the major petroleum companies have a program to pre buy? Shell, Mobil, cit go etc…

With 15 cars just fill up all the tanks!

Don’t forget the boat, the mower and every gas can you own :stuck_out_tongue:

Why not get your own tank? Can’t be that many regulations for an above ground.

Doesn’t this new gas formulation not last as long. I have heard a shelf life as short as 3 months for certain mixtures without additional additives.

Might be a good idea for diesel though. Oh, nevermind, I already have a 275 gallon one to heat the house. On second thought can’t use that as they put the dye in it.

I found an unlimited supply of gas at no cost whatsoever!
Simply go to any WalMart superstore parking lot with a empty gas can and a long rubber hose. You do know how to siphon? Yeah, it works well!

Until you’re caught…

I’m not sure if that’s true with ethanol free gas. I know the ethanol gas has a shorter shelf life.

Most people at our WalMart don’t have enough in their tanks to siphon.

I don’t want to physically store the gas as self life isn’t good anymore. Besides, once I did all the capital investment the cost savings wouldn’t be worth it. I hoped another company like all gallons was offering the service. After googling around I haven’t found one. Must be the business plan didn’t work. They would let you buy gallons of gas at today’s price and store it on a gas card for as long as you wanted. You could use the card at most gas stations. It was a $30 a year fee.
I think the Wal Mart option would get me :rocketwhore: around here :stuck_out_tongue:

The lawn mower, most cars are full and I have six 5 gal cans that are full so trying to take advantage of the low price.

Hello Brian, Sounds like you’re pretty well stocked on fuel. I don’t know of any price option plans that resemble the one that you mentioned. Too bad that the shelf life for today’s gas isn’t longer than about 3 months. If it were… an above ground storage tank could definitely pay off.

Hmm, interesting concept. Probably too much like playing in the futures market. ROI for the company Brian found earlier must not have been good.

It would have been a great summer to drive our cars with the cheap gas prices, but with this coronavirus and self isolation we all have nowhere to go!
:wall:

I would have to drive over 200 miles to find any real gas. The EPA mandated crap they sell here has a relatively short shelf life without being treated. The cost of the treatments would defeat the savings unless gas went back up to the $4 range.

Nonsense. You are isolating yourself from everyone else by driving your car (with the windows up) taking a long, relaxing drive. It’s the equivalent of staying at home except your home is mobile and no one is likely to intrude or bother your while you’re driving.

Agree! Perfect time to be on the road

Midlife, Actually that is exactly what my wife and I have done. But it was nice to stop somewhere and have lunch and beverage, or attend one of the many cruise nights in our area. Now the bars are all closed and I don’t think any of the towns will risk having cruise nights this summer because there is no way to keep the required social distance. So I drive my Cougar and then head back home. :frowning:

Now is when I wish I had a nice 1000 gallon tank on the property…
