Proper installation of an Edelbrock 1406

I bought an Edelbrock 1406 carb for the '68 and was wondering the proper way to set it up.

Does the distributor vacuum advance hook to the timed port or the full vacuum?

Do I plug off the EGR port on the riser and run from the port in front or do I plug off the front?

What did you do about the linkage?

People here have said to hook the electric choke to the STA terminal on the alternator while the Edelbrock video says to run to the keyed accessory slot on the fuse box

Thanks in advance.

I believe you already know I’m very far from being an expert, but these answers, the first two anyway, are based on my implementation of what I was told when I asked these questions last year

My choke was wired to the starter solenoid when I got the car which from everything I’ve read and heard everywhere is a big no-no. I moved that connection to the STA connection on the alt and haven’t had trouble thus far.

Vac advance is to the ported vacuum port (the one on the left if you’re looking at it from the front)

The big port on the front is called the “PCV port” in the edelbrock owner’s manual, so… I’m going to be switching my PCV connection there in the next month or so when I remount my carb after the rebuild. I’ve been using the port on the rear of the 1" metal riser that came with the car, but have a phenolic 1" spacer on the way that has no PCV port on it, so the front of the carb it is from now on for me.
