how to properly stow spare with styled steel wheels 69" 2 dr ht
Here’s some additional information regarding the styled steel wheel ( specifically the felt pad / cover ) stowage vs. the regular steel wheel, and the two different trunk lid mounted decals ( C9ZB-17093-B and D ) used during the 1969 model year.
I guess the jack is intended to be farther open for storage like shown in the Dead Nuts On photo. I had never looked that closely at the sticker before. Interesting!
thanks for the info. if the wheel pictured on dead nuts on site is a styed wheel where is the trim ring?. It’s confusing with all the different types of wheel along with different location in trunk.( center or right side) .
I have looked at pic’s of restored cougars but none are stowed the same way. It’s confusing and I’m still unsure what is correct for 69 cougar 2dr ht with styled wheels . the best example is a mustang.
The trim rings and hub caps were supplied in sets of four. The spare wheel is supposed to have neither.
Thanks Royce. My spare has trim ring and center. Previous owner must have picked it up along the way.
Makes sense with felt, mounting washer, jack and jack handle and in that order. Is that correct?
The diagram is pretty straightforward, and has a 69 part number. So it applies for 69-70 Cougars and Mustangs with SS wheels. There is no trim ring, center cap, or mounting washer for the spare. My convertible spare location is farther towards rear and passenger side than in a coupe.
Look at the sticker.
