Quarter Panel Replacement Roof Pilar Help

Hi
I am new here at the this site and I am restoring a 68, and I am in the process of replacing the passenger’s side quarter panel. I wanting your help and imput whether on not to take out the lead on the pilar’s roof or not? or just replace underneath the lead seam? your thoughts and experience it very helpful. This is a going to be a vinal top car also, but I want to do it right and may be better off not messing with the roof rain rails, etc.? If you have taken out the lead what did you put back in for filler on the roof pilar of the seam of spots welds and roof joint?

Thank you for your help and imput

TimC

Do you need to replace the entire roof skin? If not, I’m not sure why you would want to mess with the lead seam on the C pillar. How bad is your quarter panel?

P.S. Welcome to the site!

Hi
No the roof is fine, like I said the quarter needs be replaced after a bad repair prior to me getting the car, and the quarter is rusted about 5 inches below the lead seam on the pilar

Thanks TimC
